The Rising Sun Tigers won big over the Perryville Panthers 11-0 on Monday.
A double by Aiden Miklas put the Tigers on the board in the top of the first.
Rising Sun added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Dylan Blankenship singled down the left field line, Kyle Hyre singled to center field, Zachary VanDyke grounded out, Stephen McDowell singled down the left field line, and Miklas singled to center field, each scoring one run.
The Tigers added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after VanDyke doubled down the left field line, and McDowell singled to left field, each scoring two runs.
Walker Ayers earned the win for the Tigers. The starter gave up three hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out five and walking one. Tucker Rando led things off on the hill for the Perryville Panthers. The starter surrendered six hits and six runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out none and walking one. McDowell tossed one inning of shutout ball for the Tigers in relief. The right-handed pitcher surrendered one hit, striking out one and walking none.
Rising Sun accumulated 12 hits in the game. VanDyke, Luke Crowl, Miklas, and McDowell each collected two hits for RSHS Tigers. VanDyke and McDowell were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in three runs for the Tigers. VanDyke stole two bases. The Tigers ran wild on the base paths, accumulating four stolen bases for the game. Rising Sun turned two double plays in the game and didn’t commit a single error in the field. Ethan Buchard had the most chances in the field with six.
Dom Ferringno, Pierce Sponaugle, Liam Merryman, and Joe Thomason each collected one hit for Perryville.
