Rising Sun Tigers Surge Past Newark Charter Thanks To Big Sixth Inning On Senior Night

The Rising Sun Tigers celebrated Senior Night before defeating Newark Charter 7-1 on Thursday thanks in part to four runs in the sixth inning. Bailey Vaughan singled, scoring one run, Hannah Patterson singled, scoring one run, Adrienne Secor laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring one run, and Carsyn Godwin singled, scoring one run.

Rising Sun opened the scoring in the second after an error scored three runs.

Madison Ore earned the win for Rising Sun. The starter allowed one hit and zero runs over four innings, striking out six and walking two. Liliana Basher took the loss for Newark Charter. The hurler went six innings, allowing seven runs (four earned) on five hits, striking out three and walking three. Taylor Stapleford collected the save.

Godwin led the Tigers with two hits in four at bats from the leadoff position. Vaughan, Secor, and Patterson each drove in one run for Rising Sun.

Brooklynn Basher, Charlotte Seiler, Jules Sturgis, and Savannah DeFilippis each collected one hit for Newark Charter. Sturgis went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in.

Rising Sun hosts the Bohemia Manor Eagles on Friday for their next game.
