Track No Trail Invitational

On Thursday April 17th, Cecil County athletes from Perryville, Rising Sun, Elkton, and Bo Manor high schools competed at the annual Track “No” Trail Invite hosted by Bo Manor high school. The invitational meet hopefully marks the start of warm weather days for the rest of the outdoor track season, with the sun out and spirits high as athletes competed for coveted titles.

Cecil County athletes performed incredibly, with many athletes earning personal or seasonal records. In the sprint events, Perryville sprinter Coumel Edward’s won the 100m dash in 11.68 for the boys, while another Perryville competitor Ayva Jacobs won the girls 100m dash, finishing with a time of 13.83. Khalil Jones from Bo Manor won the 200m dash with a personal record time of 23.58, while Rising Sun’s Emma Bare won the women’s 200m dash, finishing in 28.13 seconds. Emma’s teammates Danna Contreras and Landen Milloway took home first place finishes in the 400m dash, with respective times of 1:03.89 and 51.92 seconds.

In the distance events, Nik Haraldsson of Rising Sun earned a season record with his first place finish in the 800m run. Haraldsson also won the 1600m run with his time of 4:50.39. His teammate Isabelle Griffith won the 1600m run as well, finishing in 6:22.95. In the 3200, Rising Sun’s Gage Stefanick finished in first, earning a time of 10:11.27. Perryville athlete Leah Schoff won the 800m run with her personal record time of 2:44.00, while Skylar Pizzulli from Bo Manor finished in first in the 3200m run with her own season record of 12:12.05.

In the hurdle events, Perryville’s Colbie Rondone and Rising Sun’s Madi Cleary battled it out in the 100m hurdles and 300m hurdles, with Rondone taking the win in 100m hurdles (17.50) and Madi Cleary finishing first in the 300m hurdles (50.46) with a personal records for each. Bo Manor’s Dain Lenz won both the 110m hurdles and the 300m hurdles with respective times of 16.01 and 42.95 seconds.

In the relays, Perryville won both the boys and girls 4x100m relays, with times of 44.96 and 53.18 seconds respectively. This boys team consisted of Coumel Edwards, Terrell Hightower, Kyreih Smack, and Dylan Sayer while the girls team consisted of Alexis Hicks, Amira Williams, Ayva Jacob’s, and Colbie Rondone. In the 4x400m relay, Rising Sun teams took home both titles, with the boys team of Landen Milloway, Gavin Gouge, Anthony McGonigle, and Nik Haraldsson finishing in 3:37.66. Rising Sun’s girls team won with a time of 4:29.98 and consisted of Emma Bare, Bella Chavis, Adeline Shertzer, and Katie Callaghan. 

Bo Manor boys won the DMR 4000m relay with a team of Mason Baldwin, Jacob Shipley, Jason Wolfenden, and Kenia Black, finishing in 10:54.17. Meanwhile the Rising Sun girls team also won the DMR 4000m relay with their time of 14:19.91 and was made up of Abby Spero, Liza England, Izzy Griffith, and Mikayla Horst.

In the field events, Diamond Harrison from Elkton won the shot put, throwing 23’4”. Perryville took home titles in two girls field events, with Colbie Rondone clearing 7’ to win pole vault and Kaliyah Croxsell throwing 72’9” to win discus. Rising Sun athletes Bella Chavis and Madi Cleary won the high jump (4’8”) and long jump (15’2.75”) respectively. Cleary also took home gold in the triple jump. 

Solomon Foye won the boys shot put for Elkton, throwing 39’5” while Rising Sun’s MJ Brusio threw 131’ to win discus. Brusio’s teammate Jakob Edwards took gold in high jump by clearing 6’2” and Brayden Strickland from Elkton won pole vault by clearing 10’. In the long jump, Elkton’s Jared Adams earned a personal record of 22’0.5” to win, while Bo Manor’s Xavier Granada earned his own personal record in the triple jump, winning with a distance of 39’0.5”.

Congratulations to all these outstanding performances by Cecil County athletes this week, we will see them all compete together next at Conowingo Championships, taking place at North East high school on the 29th of April.
