Sofia Gallahue collected three hits in four at bats, as Bel Air Varsity Bobcats defeated North Harford Varsity Hawks 7-5 on Wednesday. Gallahue singled in the second inning, singled in the fourth inning, and singled in the sixth inning.
North Harford Varsity Hawks jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Brianna Billings doubled, scoring two runs, and Alyssa Aungst singled, scoring one run.
Bel Air Varsity Bobcats took the lead, 5-3, in the bottom of the third thanks to singles by Claire Bowden, Addison Hessler, and Gabby Watts.
Gallahue earned the win for Bel Air Varsity Bobcats. The pitcher allowed five hits and five runs over seven innings, striking out nine and walking three. Ashlie McMillan took the loss for North Harford Varsity Hawks. The righty went six innings, allowing seven runs (five earned) on 10 hits, striking out two and walking three.
Bel Air Varsity Bobcats piled up 10 hits in the game. Bowden, Leah McGivern, Hessler, Amelia Mason, Watts, and Gallahue each drove in one run for Bel Air Varsity Bobcats. Bel Air Varsity Bobcats didn’t commit a single error in the field. Alaina Torrence had the most chances in the field with nine.
Billings provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led North Harford Varsity Hawks with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Ava Wimer stole two bases.
