BEL AIR, MD – Coming off a 1-9 season last year, the North East Indians looked to erase the memories of last season with a big win on Friday at C. Milton Wright against the Mustangs. The Indians looked good in the first quarter and were able to contain the Mustangs offense and kept their opponent out of the endzone. The Indians were able to move the ball and were gaining confidence.

The Indians would lose three of their starters to unsportsmanlike conduct penalties when a fight broke out on the field at the end of the first quarter. Those three players would seem to be key parts to the Indians early success as the team lost its momentum from the first quarter and the home team Mustangs would start to pull away and quickly started to put the game out of reach for the Indians.

A late score would put the Indians on the scoreboard but that would be too late for the Indians to rally and they end up with the 34-7 loss.

First-year QB, Senior Luke Keefer would pass for 122 yards going 10-20 with one TD and one INT. Keefer also would lead the team in rushing picking up 34 yards on nine carries.

Garrette Kirby and Mason Boyd both rushed for 17 yards on five carries each. DJ Anthony would get 16 yards on five carries.

Marcus Rivera caught one pass for 46 yards and had the only TD of the game. Evan England would snatch 4 passes for 41 yards.

The Indians put up 215 total yards of offense with 122 in the air and 93 yards rushing.

Standouts on defense were #8 Collin Fulks who had 10 total tackles in the game with eight of those solo tackles. RJ Boyd #5 had 12 Total Tackles.

Next up for the Indians is a trip to Fallston for an unusual Saturday game at 12noon on September 10 at Fallston High School.

The Indians will host their Home Opener on Friday September 16 against the Joppatowne Mariners.
